In Marrakech, Younes Duret Design presents its work for Marrakesh–Timbuktu, a venue dedicated to the Bert Flint collection. Developed in collaboration with Joost Flint, the collector’s nephew, the project combines exhibition design with modular display furniture to help share this cultural legacy.
Textiles, jewellery, sculptures and everyday objects: the pieces gathered by Bert Flint reveal connections between Amazigh, Saharan and West African cultures. Their presentation invites visitors to discover relationships between forms, materials and uses, continuing the collector’s curious and perceptive approach to objects.
Set within a traditional riad in the medina, the exhibition required careful consideration of the building’s identity. Its rooms, openings onto the courtyard and decorative details belong to an architecture originally designed for everyday life. The exhibition design draws on this domestic character to foster a sense of closeness to the objects, guide visitors through the spaces and create opportunities for observation.
To support this experience, Younes Duret designed a family of tables, plinths, wall-mounted supports and display cases. The bases and tabletops share a language of curves whose precise geometry gives rise to organic forms. Variations in height and proportion allow different display arrangements, balancing the presence of the furniture, the character of the house and the expressive power of the objects.
Durable and modular, the furniture is also designed to evolve. The collection extends well beyond the pieces displayed at any one time: the furniture can accommodate new selections and reveal fresh connections between objects. The permanent exhibition thus retains the freedom to change, offer new perspectives and invite further discovery.
